Valentine's day is almost here, and we can tell that you're all getting into the spirit of the holiday. In response to our Poetry competition, so many of you got creative and wrote incredible love poems, expressing your love for Tofu Cute, your favourite snack, or just your special someone.
We've been reading every entry as we've received them, and today we're awarding the best of the Tofu Cute Love Poems we received, starting with four 'runner up' entries who we'll be giving Tomodachi Points, and then the overall best poem, who we'll be giving a huge Valentine's gift hamper! If you're included on this list, we've probably already contacted you!~ Thank you to everyone who submitted a poem - we enjoyed reading them all!~

The first runner up poem is by Instagram user orderly.chaos.cosplay, who produced an inspiring little rhyme about rescuing plushies, it reads:
To all lonely plushies out there,
There is no need to despair!
One day I will provide you with love,
And swoop in like a dove,
To adopt you into my care.
From bunnies to puppies, I'll give each of you huggies!
You won't be alone this year,
I promise I will hold you dear.
And to the Tofu Cute team, I hope that you see you're loved -
and have a fantastic New Year!
Thanks for the kind words - it's nice to see that we're loved! We admire this poem's commitment to saving plushies without homes, which is conveyed to us using a simple but fantastic rhyming scheme. Good work!

The next runner up was posted by Kiki York on Facebook! Their poem was titled 'Ode to Flan' and provides a brief but delightful tribute to our FLAN friends - they're not in stock at the moment, but we won't forget them!
Flan, O Flan
As sweet as a fresh melon pan
Oh how I aspire to be
As dreamy as thee
O lazy days
With your comforting gaze
On a sunny kawaii day
We like this poem because it had a title & a clear theme which it commits to. This is a poem about FLANS and all of their wonder, and we love FLANS! The language that the poem uses is reminiscent of a classic 'ode' and it happens to be about one of our favourite things!

The next runner up was posted by Instagram user glamandgeeky who delivered an excellent & brief poem about having a cute Valentine's day! It reads:
For Valentine's if I has the chance to choose,
I'd be be bestowed a plethora of plushies from AMUSE,
I'd squish and cuddle them all day long,
I love the soft fuzz of my cute pom-poms
We'd make DIY sweets and drink cold Ramune
It would be the most kawaii perfect Valentine's Day!
This poem is once again simple but very effective - I think everyone can agree that they would like to be bestowed a plethora of plushies from AMUSE as a Valentine's gift! |

The next poem was written on Facebook by Ruthe Poole,
who gives us a charming little song about the many delights available from our shop which can enhance your valentine's day.
Traditional valentines want chocolates and champers,
But all that I want is a Tofu Cute hamper.
Nothing fills my heart more than kawaii delights,
Meiji sweet candies and melon pan bites.
Panda shaped biscuits and squishy bean mochi,
Wafers and corn puffs and flavoursome pocky.
Kitkats in flavours you think are a dream,
Diy kits to make candy ice cream!
Plushies and fluffies and stuffies galore,
I really think I should just live at your store.
You brighten my days more than any sunshine,
So please Tofu Cute, will you be my valentine?
We love the way this poem mentions a wide array of the treats we sell at Tofu Cute - mochi, pocky, candy ice cream, plushies and you even mentioned melon pan bites - one of my personal favourite snacks at Tofu Cute. We don't know if we can commit to being anyone's Valentine right now, but we'll happily give you some Tomodachi points for writing this fantastic poem - well done! |

We searched long and hard for a Tofu Cute love poem that was suitable to win, and whilst a lot of the poems were of a good quality, this piece by frostedribbon on Instagram really got top marks in all the areas we were looking for - it's creative, cute and very funny:
'Love is rare and to be cherished
But all too soon that feeling perished.
We were strained, our relaitonship rocky
Especially when you ate the last strawberry Pocky.
It's fine, I lied through gritted teeth,
Thinking you scoundrel, you rotten thief.
You know they're my favourite, I wanted to cry.
Instead I smiled, a facade, a lie
In my eyes something did betray
And I watched you pause, waver and sway
With biscuit treat still clutched tight
I thought you had seen the light
You turned to me, your eyes shining
Was I to see a silver lining?
But you at it anyway, as if all were fine
Happy Valentine's day, you pocky eating swine
frostedribbon's poem gives us a fun little story of pocky-based betrayal which I think we can all relate to. The language used is diverse and rhythmic and the poem has a great structure to it. There's some clear writing talent here with a poem that begins and ends a story and does so in a way that's constantly interesting! Well done - look forward to your Valentine's gift hamper arriving as soon as possible!~
