Open the cabinet
If you've been following our Facebook or Instagram for the last week, you've probably seen our recent giveaway where we gave two lucky winners an excellent bundle of Sanrio Candy. If you're disappointed you didn't win, perhaps you'll be pleased to know that we're now selling our whole Sanrio Candy Cabinet range online and in-store. Now you can experience the joy of your favourite Sanrio characters with these delicious and fun new candies! But what makes them so awesome? Today we'll open the cabinet and find out!

Quentin: Yes, I'm really excited to find out!

Adam: Oh no, why are you back again? This isn't even a Q&A post like last time.

Quentin: I can have opinions on things too, you know! I didn't want to keep my adoring fans waiting for too long.

Adam: Okay...
Gudetama Goodies
As if our fantastic Gudetama Chocolate by Creighton's wasn't enough, Gudetama fans have been blessed once again with a few adorable and collectable candy items featuring their favourite lazy egg with the Gudetama Mini Suitcase with Ramune Candy and the Gudetama Rock Paper Scissors Candy with Gum.

These two items from Sanrio's Candy Cabinet series go far beyond what you'd expect from traditional sweets: As the name suggests, the Gudetama ramune candies come in a small but detailed Gudetama 'suitcase', which is both adorable to look at and also a practical storage solution for small things (such as hairclips, headphones, small cables, loose change) or just to keep the candies that come within it. The suitcase even has functional wheels and an adjustable handle!

The candies themselves are small, deliciously tart and really recreate that ramune taste that you've probably come to know and love if you've tried Japanese sweets that try and re-create that soda flavour - they're even vegan friendly!
The Rock, Paper Scissors Gudetama Toy is also a joy to experience - this gudetama-themed mechanical hand can be adjusted with a button press into each of the three hand shapes that you need to play Rock, Paper, Scissors (at the very least, a good game of rock, paper, scissors)! This unique toy works best when you get two and give one to a friend, and you can have a great time playing Rock, Paper, Scissors together - these are handy for settling those arguments on who is going to get the last Pocky stick, or in true Gudetama fashion, which of you gets to be lazy whilst the other has to do chores. The toy contains a set of classic gumballs in bright red & orange colours, with a firm candy shell that bursts open to transform into delicious gum. Perhaps you can use these to keep score of who is winning the Rock, Paper, Scissors game, with each victor winning a tasty treat?

Quentin: I always win our rock paper scissors games.

Adam: You don't.

Quentin: It was best of three! I demand a rematch.

Adam: What's the point? You always pick paper.

Quentin: It's not my fault my sloth hands have limited movement!
Delicious Lollipops
As well as Gudetama, the new Sanrio Candy Cabinet range also has a number items themed around the characters Cinnamoroll & My Melody. In particular, there's two candies in this set which are a 'must-try' for fans of sweet things: the My Melody and Cinnamoroll Colourful Lollipop sets. These expertly crafted lollipops come in sets of three, and include separate lollipops with different colours and flavours including peach, bubblegum and yogurt! You might think that the yoghurt flavour sounds a bit gross, but Yoghurt is a fairly common flavour profile in the world of Japanese sweets, and I can personally promise you that it is a lot more delicious than it might seem.

The Lollipops themselves are sculpted to look like Cinnamoroll and My Melody which made me feel a lot more guilty about eating them, despite their sweet taste. Both sets of lollipops come delicately wrapped up with an adorable small flag of each character at the end of the Lollipop stick.

Quentin: I love flags!

Adam: Great?
Melody Milkcakes & Kitty Caramels
There are also two treats within this set that would make an exceptional gift for a fan of the classic Sanrio character Hello Kitty or their counterpart My Melody - the Hello Kitty Caramel Box and the My Melody Milkcakes. The caramels are what you might expect - small, chewy cube shaped sweets which are individually wrapped for freshness, contained inside an adorable Hello Kitty box. They're small, soft, chewy and represent everything candies should be - simple & delicious.

The My Melody Milkcakes are a lot less typical - they're thin cakes made from condensed milk and flavoured with real strawberry juices, which makes for a delicious treat with a muted sweet taste, and one that is a lot healthier than a wafer or chocolate. the packaging is also super adorable, but that could be said for all of these candies! If you're looking for something different to try, these milk-cakes are definitely worth a look while they're still available.

Quentin: I love these My Melody milkcakes. They're so delicious!

Adam: Please stop eating them...
The Other Stuff
In the Sanrio Candy Cabinet range, there's also some other things we haven't mentioned yet - there's delicious printed Ramune Candy which comes in both classic Ramune & Peach Soda flavours! The peach soda candies come with a colourful My Melody design printed on to them - they're quite small, but packed full of flavour. The ramune flavour candies on the hand are decorated with a cute picture of Cinnamoroll, and like the other ramune candies, they're simply bursting with flavour. At only 99p (and less with a tomodachi discount!) they're a great value, and an excellent candy for the price.

The final item in this review isn't actually candy, but we're still gonna mention it here - you can now get Gudetama and My Melody themed nori seaweed sheets from our online shop! These small rectangles of dried crispy seaweed form an important part of a variety of classic Japanese lunch foods and can be used to make onigiri as well as decorative shapes in bento lunch boxes - or they can just be eaten as a light, healthy snack.

Quentin: But what do you think of the Sanrio candy cabinet? Have you been lucky enough to try any of them yet? Can you defeat me in Rock, Paper, Scissors? Feel free to let us know or issue a personal challenge to me via our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and be sure to check out our Sanrio Candy Cabinet Range!
