DIY Trees
In the latest episode of Tofu Cute TV, Devon & I decided we wanted to create the brand new Candy Bonsai Tree DIY Kit. A while ago, we made the DIY Zen Garden for a video and had a great time, and we figured that it only made sense to make this new kit as a kind of sequel to that video. The kit seemed deceptively simple, so what could go wrong…?

Without spoiling the video, there were many laughs to be had with this unique DIY Candy Kit. It was fairly simple to make, even using just the pictures on the back of the box as our source for instructions. Although I have some experience making DIY Candy Kits, I think this one is more on the simple side, so if you’re looking for a place to jump in with Japanese DIY Candy Kits, this is a great place to start.
The fully assembled tree turned out a lot better than I thought it would, and I think in the hands of a more skilled craftsman could be turned into something even more aesthetically pleasing. Every Bonsai Tree made from these kits will be just a little bit different, and that’s pretty amazing when you think about it. Once you’ve created your tree, it also doubles as a delicious snack, which has a strong vanilla flavour in the green sponge cake ‘leaves’ and the chewy chocolate fudge trunk.

On a more personal note, creating this bonsai tree marks my own final appearance on Tofu Cute, and perhaps generally on the Tofu Cute Social Media for a while! My role in Team Tofu will be changing a bit, so this video was a nice way to put a cap on this part of my journey with Tofu Cute. You’ll still be getting plenty of my input here on the tofu cute blog though, so don’t worry!
