A Double Snack review? Utterly bananas.
Welcome to (perhaps the first?) double snack review. For your interest, we'll be looking at two recent snack drops on the Tofu Cute online shop: Honma Banana Candy and Glico Caplico Strawberry Chocolates. If you're not sure if you want to get either of these, here's my honest impressions!

Honma Banana Candy. As a candy name, it rolls fairly nicely off the tongue, I think. As a candy itself, I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I’m a big believer in the power of the banana flavour as it pertains to confectionery, so as soon as I spotted this one on the online shop, I knew I had to try it. With anticipation, I placed an order on the website alongside a few classic favourites.

There’s something quite magical about the typical candy banana flavour being completely different to actual bananas. This new candy by Kracie is no different in this way, but it’s definitely one of the most satisfying versions of the candy banana experience I’ve had in a long time. It has that ‘fake’ banana taste that you’re either going to love or be indifferent to, but if you’re already on board for that kind of thing, you’ll almost certainly enjoy this new banana flavoured experience.

What stuck out to me the most about this candy, however, is the texture. It seems weird to say, but the texture was not unlike the texture of a really soft sponge cake or a toffee pudding. I was pretty surprised by this; it was exceptionally chewy but in a really soft way that reminded me of cake. The candies arrive in small, yellow, bite-sized banana shaped pieces, and that don’t look like they’re going to have that texture, but they certainly do.

If you’ve had the popular candy ‘foam bananas’ that are easy to find in any sweet shop here in the UK, you might be familiar with the vibes of these Honma Banana Candy - they're like those, but a bit different. The main difference is that these have a bit more of a zest in their flavour, and a much more substantial difference in terms of texture. They’re the improved version of foam bananas, you could say. We haven’t had a banana flavoured snack in stock in a while at Tofu Cute, and I’m so glad we received these. They come in a simple resealable pack, so that you can easily save them for later, but honestly? You’re more likely to eat them all in one sitting. I know I did!
But that's not all that I ate recently in terms of new snacks. As I said, this is a DOUBLE Review, and the second snack up for assessment is the Glico Strawberry Chocolates.

As you can probably see from the product image, this is a chocolate treat composed off two separate halves. One layer of smooth milk chocolate, and one layer of pink strawberry chocolate, united together in one strawberry shape.

If you've had the previous Glico Caplico Star Shaped chocolates, this strawberry version shares some qualities with those. They seem to have a bit more weight per chocolate piece, I think, and the round shape compliments the smooth and melty texture, and you'll quickly notice both flavours clashing in your mouth, fighting for the territory of your tastebuds. What results is a really delightful flavour experience.

If you're into strawberry flavoured chocolates (or strawberry flavoured stuff in general), this is a pretty sublime offering from Glico. I do wish that there were more in a single pack, but like all good things in life, the fun can't last forever.

We've stocked plenty of strawberry chocolate combination candies at Tofu Cute, but this one is really impressive. It comes highly recommended from me!
Overall, these two new snacks are both worth your time. They both represent the peak of their respective candy genres. If you're looking for something new to try or you're a big banana or strawberry enthusiast, there's no reason to not get on board!
