Excellent Exhibitors: Sugar & Sloth
Excellent Exhibitors: Sugar & Sloth

As part of our Tofu Cute DigiFest, we're talking all about our favourite exhibitors that we'd normally see on the UK convention scene, and all about why you should check them out and send them some love. Today's Excellent Exhibitor is Sugar & Sloth, who flew onto my radar last year when I saw one of their adorable pin badges. They're all about making the world a happier and more positive place, which falls directly in line with many of our own goals here at Tofu Cute!

We asked them about Sugar & Sloth, some of their favourite things, and more!
What is Sugar & Sloth?
But what is Sugar & Sloth, I hear you cry? If you don't know already, then the mastermind behind Sugar & Sloth, Anita, explains it pretty well:

"My mission is to promote positivity and empowerment through a range of cute as hell artwork and accessories. Sugar & Sloth focuses on bringing cuteness and humour to mental health awareness.

I started creating characters as an escape from being miserable and crying in the toilets every day at my job. My mental health was low, and expressing myself through chubby little cats & sloths helped a lot. As I started sharing my art I realised it could help others too. I’m so thankful that the business has grown allowing me to leave that job, and hire a small team too.

I want everyone who enters the inclusive world of Sugar & Sloth to feel all warm and fluffy!"

As Anita concisely explains it, Sugar & Sloth is a colourful gift and accessory brand that's all about bringing that warmth to others. As well as being cutesy, this is an obvious theme to Anita's work, which you'll notice in their designs, as well as the wholesome way they encourage a community with their fans.

Making People Happy
Sugar & Sloth's designs and social media posts provide a lot of important messages that can be essential to hear in everyday life. From the 'We were just talking about how much you matter' design that you see to the right or the 'keep going' vinyl sticker, many of Anita's designs have just the right words of encouragement.

You can find these cute designs in the form of stickers, greetings cards, enamel pins and more! If you're looking to cheer someone up when they're down, Sugar & Sloth's cute (and sometimes 'slightly sweary') array of gifts are a perfect way to do just that, with cute (and funny) things for almost every occasion. I'm a big fan of the way they draw animals and render everything with a delightfully pastel colour palette.
But that's not all. As well as producing a wide array of cute and quirky products, Sugar & Sloth is also committed to uplifting people for free, with things like their 'happy text club', which you can sign up to get a free uplifting text message when you need it most, and the Bestie group on Facebook, which is described as 'a safe space for besties to share, whether that's anxiety issues or cat videos. You will also be the first to know and vote on new designs, get exclusive giveaways, and a free badge for everyone in the group!'. If you enjoy the vibes that Sugar & Sloth put out, their facebook group is the place to be!

Of course, if you want to uplift someone else rather than yourself, Sugar & Sloth can help with that too, with their cleverly named 'hug in a box', which you can send to someone you care about them to give them an incredible burst of positivity. The hug in a box contains a mixed assortment of Sugar & Sloth's best and brightest goodies - 2 bright and cheery postcards, 3 vinyl stickers and 3 button badges, all carefully selected to bring joy to your loved ones day!

We're huge fans of Sugar & Sloth's commitment to spreading joy, and it's clear that they're trying to make the world a bit brighter with everything they do, which is nice. Beyond that, they're offering a small but supportive sense of community and support, which can be really vital for maintaining mental health.
Anita's Favourites
It wouldn't be a Tofu Cute Blog if we didn't ask Anita her opinions on Japanese snacks and cute characters, of course!

Do you have a favourite Japanese Snack or Drink?

"Japanese food is so yummy, my favourite has to be steamed buns, dumplings or rice balls - I can't choose! I prefer savory over sweet, and live for carbs. It's hard to think of a Japanese food I don't like, although I did accidentally buy some pea flavoured crisps in Tokyo (yes, they were green!) and I can't say I'd try them again!"

What's your favourite animal?

"Oooh, this changes all the time so it's really hard to choose, but I do have a weird frog obsession right now, I also love capybaras (how can anyone not love a guinea pig the size of a sheep?!) and of course I have a soft spot for sloths."

What's your favourite colour?

"Rainbow, does that count? If not then I love mint green, I also recently started wearing yellow and I can't believe I'd never really had any yellow clothes before, it's such a happy colour."

What's your favourite cute character?

"Gudetama and I have been dating on and off for a few years, and I feel like the Aggretsuko cartoons were based on my life story, I'm still waiting for the royalties on that one :D"

It seems as though several of our guests on the blog have tried to choose 'rainbow' or 'all colours' as their favourite colour... I'm starting to think I should rephrase the question. As expected, though, Anita has a great taste in cute characters (another gudetama fan, but I'm glad to see Aggretsuko get some support) and animals. I've always been a big advocate for Capybaras, too, ever since I saw footage of some Capybaras bathing in a luxury yuzu bath in Japan.
Tiny Party Club
If you already find yourself falling in love with Sugar & Sloth's quirky delights, one of the best ways to get new stationery and cute things from them is to join their monthly subscription box, the 'tiny party club', which has a different unique theme each month!

September's theme is Chonky Tea Party, and Sugar and Sloth have kindly offered Tofu Cute customers a special offer that you can't get anywhere else but right here! They're offering chance to try our Tiny Party Club subscription box for £10 (It would normally be £12!) with the code TOFUCUTE0920 valid until the end of September! Click here to check it out!

If you can't decide on what cute thing from Sugar & Sloth suits you the most, their Tiny Party Club is a great way to get a fun assortment of items only available in that particular box!
Tofu Cute Recommends!
One of my personal favourite things on the Sugar & Sloth selection are the 'Tree Shirts' - eco-friendly and sustainable T-Shirts at a reasonable price, with cute designs that rotate regularly. At the moment, they've got two awesome designs available - 'physically I am here but emotionally I am a lobster beanie baby' and 'kiss who you want' - which are absolutely fantastic. They also have a pretty cool offer that gives you a free enamel pin badge with any given set. Woo!

The designs are available in incredibly limited qualities and maintain a high standard for being sustainably produced, and a tree is planted for every T-shirt sold! Neat!
We're a big fan of what Sugar & Sloth are doing with their brand here at Tofu Cute - they're all about spreading good vibes, and what's not to like about that? If you're looking for adorably designed stationery, gift cards, enamel pins, stickers and much more, you'll be sure to find something you like on their website. If you're just looking for a community filled with positive, you can find that with Sugar & Sloth too! Please go and show them some support, and if you're thinking of trying out the Tiny Party Club, use the code TOFUCUTE0920 during September to get yours for £10!

That's all for Today's edition of the Excellent Exhibitors blog, but be sure to stay tuned to Tofu Cute's social media for more fun DigiFest surprises!
