AMUSE Plush Cuteness Contest!
AMUSE Plush Cuteness Contest!

We love all AMUSE here at Tofu Cute (yes, we even love the Oh! Pantastic Plush), but even we have to admit that we have favourites. We're also a fan of petty rivalries at Tofu Cute, as evidenced by our continued dedication to dividing people into #TeamMushroom (those who support Meiji's mushroom chocolate biscuit) and #TeamBamboo (those who support Meiji's Bamboo chocolate biscuit).

In that same childish fashion, we've decided to pit several of your favourite AMUSE plushies against their closest counterparts to ask some important questions - Out of the classic Namakemono Sloth & the new Kirara Eyes Sloth, which is better? Which AMUSE Sheep is the best one? Which style of Mameshiba is the cutest? These are serious questions, that require serious answers! So here's an AMUSE plush cuteness contest (if you can think of a more inventive name, please let us know), by asking you (yes, you!) to vote in a series of polls, so that we can determine a set of winners!

The outcome of these polls might even help us decide which plush to put in a future offer... but right now it's mostly about having some fun!
Match 1 - Baguette-San Vs. Melon Pan-Chan
When it comes to plush, we all know that Oh! Pantastic is one of the finest available. If nothing else, then this video certainly proves it. But which to choose? There's Baguette-San & Melon-Pan-Chan, two different plush based on two entirely different types of bread.

Baguette-San has a lot of layers - it's pretty clear that they're a baguette, as the top of the plush also shows a variety of baguette fillings of ham & lettuce to complete the look. Melon-Pan chan is far more simple, with a simple design based on the classic Japanese pastry, but they also have cute eyelashes and a cute bow.

But which one is cuter? My personal view is that Melon Pan Cham is cuter - their surprised expression, their bow, and their general vibe I think makes them a bit cuter than Baguette san - but what do you think? Click here to vote in the twitter poll! Given how popular Pantastic plush are, we're sure this will be a tense vote.
Match 2 - Namakemono Sloth Vs. Namakemono Kirara Eyes Sloth
Namakemono Sloths have been a fan-favourite AMUSE product on our online store for a long time. We all know that the iconic Quentin is a sloth from Namakemono series, but this brand new 'kirara eyes' set is completely different, with big, bold, sparkly eyes. There's something rather special about them. Outside of the eyes, there isn't many major differences between the two sets - the standard namakemono set only comes in one colour, and has poppers on the hands so that it can join hands with other sloths or hang off something. The new series on the other hand has no hand poppers, but a greater variety of colours - in particular I like the Snowy White variant!

So which one of them is cuter? It's hard to say for sure, because the Kirara Eyes series was clearly designed to add cuteness, and I can see the appeal, but I think I'm probably biased towards the original Namakemono sloths. Something about the sparkly eyes is just a bit too much for me, but perhaps you feel differently.

Match 3 - Dreamy Swan Vs. Swan Queen (Kotoritai Dressup Series)
Did you know that Swans can fly as fast as 60 miles per hour? It's a very impressive speed for a bird of its type. Both of these AMUSE plush versions of swans are arguably equally impressive, with two unique approaches to making a swan in plush form. On one side, the Dreamy Swan series offers a plush with a fairly simple but accurate take on a Swan in a selection of dreamy colours, whilst the Korotiritai Dressup Series has a highly stylised, super round swan design which crams all the unique features into a sphere of cuteness.

So which one of them is cuter? I think it depends entirely on your preferences, but my vote goes to the new Dreamy Swan series. Whilst I've got a lot of love for the Kotoritai Dressup Bird (and apparently so do you, We're out of small plushies, but we've still got charms and some giant sized ones), I think the colour palette and fluffiness of the Dreamy Swan Series gives it the edge over the kotoritai version.

But what do you think? Click here to vote in the twitter poll!
Match 4 - Mameshiba Brown With White Muzzle Vs. Brown With Tongue
Within all the different types of Mameshiba plush we've had throughout the years, one thing has stayed consistent - there's always a classic shiba colour (brown with white muzzle) and then a slightly different colour with two shades of brown and their tongue sticking out (brown with tongue). Between these two brown shiba pups, there are only minor differences, but everyone's got a favourite. Some prefer the boisterous energy of the 'brown with tongue' pup, whilst some prefer the more relaxed demeanour of the 'brown with white muzzle' pup!

But which is cuter? My personal favourite is the brown with white muzzle, because I prefer the traditional shiba look and pointed ears compared to the folded ears of the 'brown with tongue' pup - I know that many in Team Tofu disagree with me, however!

Match 5 - MaryBaby Vs. Wooly
This final matchup (for today) is a rivalry that has newly sparked. We recently asked about who you preferred out of these two types of AMUSE Sheep plush on our Instagram story, and surprisingly, it was fairly even, although Wooly ultimately took home the win on that vote.

I think there's compelling reasons to prefer both of these, and I'm personally torn: the Wooly plush has the classic legacy of having been part of the AMUSE family for quite a long time, whilst the fresh, new MaryBaby design has a cute, sleepy aesthetic and somehow put an original twist on the sheep character concept that had already been carried by Wooly for so long.

So... which is cuter? It's one of the hardest ones to answer in this set. So I'm going to avoid answering for now, and once again ask you for your opinion - Click here to vote in the twitter poll!
