Most people love a good dog...
(If you don’t, this might not be the blog for you, but perhaps we can convince you of how wrong you are?) and for many years, the AMUSE Company has been capitalising on the natural charm of ‘Man’s best friend’ by producing high-quality dog plushies, which Tofu Cute is proud to stock officially for the UK! One of the most popular of these series is Mameshiba, AMUSE’s iconic dog brand which focuses on the Japanese dog breed of Shiba Inu, and has since come to encompass a broader range of dogs in a variety of cute styles and themes.

In this fantastic list, we’ll be breaking down and ranking (in our humble opinion) our five favourite dogs by the AMUSE company. After you’ve finished reading, remember that using any of our emojis to ‘react’ to this blog can net you some sweet Tomodachi points to use on our online store! Disagree with our list? Feel free to tweet us to let us know your opinion Twitter: @Tofu_cute!
5. Mameshiba Relaxation Day
It’s been a long day for these Shiba pups, but if you’re feeling similarly, these cuties are sure to cheer you up! This series of Mameshiba is unique due to its floppy limbs, which allows them to lounge around on any kind of surface, and also makes them easy to cuddle, especially in the giant size! These cuties come in four classic Mameshiba colours, including Charcoal Grey (which is definitely my personal favourite colour in any Mameshiba series) Light Blonde, Brown with White Muzzle and Brown with a tongue poking out. This is the standard range of colours for modern Mameshiba series, but with no additional gimmicks, you can appreciate the bright colours and soft fur of these good dogs without any needless distractions.

This series, whilst not as popular as some of the others on the list, makes the final cut because of their quality, simple-but-cute design. This is Mameshiba is the 'essential' Mameshiba plush, ideal for someone who has never owned an AMUSE plush before!
4. Mameshiba Matsuri Festival
This series of Mameshiba plush has a range of dogs in traditional festival attire! As well as including a Shiba Inu sporting a classic looking yukata as expected, there is also the appearance of a Light Grey Husky and an adorable Pug with very pronounced eyebrows! Each dog from this series is wearing a form of dress associated with traditional Japanese festivals, with each dog type wearing something different, making this a series that looks great when collected together in a cute display.

This series makes the list for two reasons: firstly, the variety of dogs is excellent, showing off two new breed designs for the husky and pug which look adorable and adds a lot to the standard selections of shibas usually present in a Mameshiba series. Secondly, the costumes of these dogs are great, recreating traditional Japanese attire in a way that is authentic and charming - look at the cute little mask that the grey husky has on his head!
3. Spring Bloom Mameshiba
Much like the previous series in this list, these dogs are particularly charming due to their bright and unique aesthetic – these ‘spring bloom’ Mameshiba dogs have super vibrant and colourful fur and a range of ultra-cute ‘spring’ accessories. Three of these shibas have super cute blushing expressions, and two of them have a traditional Japanese ‘dango’ stuck on their heads – how silly!

These dogs make the list for sticking strong to their theme – they really give off a ‘spring’ vibe, don’t you think? Like many of the items on this list, they’re simple but effective - the neckerchiefs on the shibas are cuter than they are in almost any other series, and this series also features the return of the pug, which always gives a Mameshiba series a sense of variety. Once again, the ‘spring bloom’ Mameshiba series' shows a remarkable attention to detail as you may expect, and their fur is softer and more radiant than ever!
2. Mameshiba Pirate Play
Ahoy! The mameshiba brothers are pretending to be tough pirates, but they’ve only ended up looking cuter. The creativity and charm of this series makes it definitely worthy of the number two spot, with each dog wearing a unique pirate style costume that is befitting to them – a cute stripy sailor outfit, a pirate hat and eyepatch, and a set of seafaring bandannas. The nautical theme of this set is very unique!

The cute details of this set are what make it shine. In particular, the mameshiba pirate logo that is visible on the hat and bib of two of the dogs in this series is super adorable, replacing a classic ‘skull and crossbones’ design with a ‘dog and crossbones’. It’s also nice to see how happy the blonde dog is. Look at that smile! It’s clear to see why this set is one of our favourites, but if you don’t like the pirate theme then perhaps you might disagree with our choice: Do you like these dogs?
1. Mameshiba Kororin
Whilst the other plushies in the list so far have been a ‘normal dog shape’, this classic plush series by AMUSE celebrates the dog with a plush that is almost completely spherical! These plushies are great fun to hold, roll and display! Their shape adds a charm to them that is unlike any other Mameshiba dog series available from the AMUSE company, or indeed most plushies available in general. There's something particularly cute about the dog sphere, and whilst the appeal might not be immediately obvious, the super-strange shaped makes our number one spot for enduring the test of time and remaining a fan-favourite to this day.

Regardless of the size you get, (Kororin are currently available in Giant, Small and Keychain) these Kororin plushies can easily be rolled in any direction, and with with careful hands, they can also be stacked vertically in a pyramid-like structure. Kororin plushies can also be stood up at a slight angle by balancing them delicately, which looks adorable if you’re displaying them somewhere. If you really wanted to, you could even juggle them or something. But be careful! These dogs deserve your respect.
